Re: What Enemy Within material to purchase after the Enemy
You can only run TEW so many times either as a GM or as a player. Therefore, I think city books (Altdorf, Middenheim, or even Salzemund) would be a great pick. Even from other editions, 1e's Marienburg, or 2e's Spires of Nuln could be a good purchase. Something like 2e's Knights of the Grail (?? The ...

Re: Up in arms hand weapon, the Hack quality
I see your point about Weapon Damage (full disclosure, I don't have Up In Arms so things might have been updated). I would argue that the difference lies in the weapon qualities. Especially a Halberd's Penetrate quality which means that it will always be doing more damage (SL's being equal) to ...

Re: Up in arms hand weapon, the Hack quality
RAW, yes, it seems that Axes are better.
But don't overlook the social cost of an axe. For one, Axes cannot be sheathed making them unsuitable as part of a ceremonial uniform (Exhibit A: The US Marines dress uniform). Also, axes are a martial adaptation of a tool, swords are purely martial and ...

Re: Teach me about the career tags system
You are correct in that it takes away the immediacy of "what are my options?" however, my experience has been that most characters have an idea of where they want their characters to go, so this will help make that process easier and more direct.

Re: Teach me about the career tags system
4e's careers are broken down into 8 'families' : Academics, Burghers, Courtiers, Peasants, Rangers, Riverfolk, Rogues, Warriors.
Renamed and re-sorted a bit we could have:
Mercantile
Peasants
Wilderness/Frontier
Maritime
Criminal
Martial
Religious
Government
Not that those should be exclusive ...

Re: Teach me about the career tags system
One change I would like to see in the Career Tag system is "typed tags". For example, the priest career would have the Religion<<any>> tag. If a PC becomes a Priest of Morr, it would be filled in with Religion<<Morr>> this would help facilitate a move into Knight of the Raven or Temple Guard (of a ...

Re: Warhammer Old World
I agree, this seems to be in support of TOW much in the same way that the AOS rpg is meant to support that game. Although I would submit that since one of the design goals of WFRP 4e was to keep in continuity with past WFRP editions, introducing TOW rpg allows them to effectively make a new "WFRP ...

Re: Number of career entries and exits
Taking your question at face value, I would say the answer feels like 5-12 with lower tier careers having more and higher tier careers having less (Remembering that you keep exits from previously completed careers).

Re: SL house rule
It won't "Break The Game" to use the one's digit, but it may lead to wierd results when doing contested rolls (especially because SL's are now a part of the damage calculation). The core rulebook has an optional rule for Fast SL's which you may want to look up.

Re: Where the other Gideon reads Warpstone
Being a (comparative) newcomer to WFRP and having missed out completely on the 1e and post-1e (Warpstone/pre 2e) era, I'm finding this a fascinating walk through.
I've read through the 1e core book, but I'll confess it means that much less to me because I never had to make it work for me, as it's ...

@Faster Great call out about the years of waiting from the community. If there is a collectible format, I'll need to get that one.

Re: Foundry vtt or Roll20
The deciding factor for me is how much homebrew mechanics you want to introduce. Foundry is absolutely fantastic, but I was not able to change/introduce as much as I wanted so I ultimately had to let it go.

In other news: it looks like I may have been correct after all.

It will be interesting to see if this will be a setting book or a new system. I guess we'll see.

Re: Warhammer: The Old World
For the longest time, WFB was set in the year 2522 and the main conflict of setting at that point was embodied in Emperor Karl Franz vs Archaon.
WFRP 4e is now set in 2510(? I believe?), likely to give some breathing room to players who want to run The Enemy Within, and give enough time for things ...

Maybe because you are a Merchant/Tradesman or are just well Travelled, and you know a bit about the language?
Maybe because you are a Reiklander, but one (both) of your parents were expatriots who had settled down in a new country?

Re: Warhammer: The Old World
I would expect *new* models (not re-releases of old kits) to be ever so slightly bigger (due to poses not model size), because the base sizes got bigger, so that they can include more details on the models, and so that they can be included/kitbashed with AoS models.

Re: [house rules] WFRP 2nd edition converted to a dice-pool system
3e basically already did the same job you did, it just left out the step-die mechanics. Although, unfortunately, it revamped the stats so that they are no longer 1-100 as a side effect. If that's not a design goal, or you can find a way to reintroduce it, it seems like you might work to find a way ...
