Re: Does a character without Swim just... drown? (RAW)
>> Let's say a character without Swim jumps into the village pond. The pond is too deep to stand and the pond bank is too far away to grab it with their hands.
Are your players prone to have their characters commit suicide like that?
Remember that PCs have fate points; if one of my players would ...

Re: Does a character without Swim just... drown? (RAW)
Thank you, I appreciate the response. Those are some good thoughts, especially making a cool check first - I'd think that in real life, the survivability in water of someone who cannot swim depends vastly on their panic levels.

Does a character without Swim just... drown? (RAW)
tl/dr:
Since Swim is an advanced skill, does a character without it lack any ability to move when in deeper water and would therefore just drown after some time without external help?
In the basic rule book on the pages 117f it says that one difference between a basic and an advanced skill is ...

Re: Up in arms hand weapon, the Hack quality
RAW, yes, it seems that Axes are better.
But don't overlook the social cost of an axe. For one, Axes cannot be sheathed making them unsuitable as part of a ceremonial uniform (Exhibit A: The US Marines dress uniform). Also, axes are a martial adaptation of a tool, swords are purely martial and ...

Re: Up in arms hand weapon, the Hack quality
You are correct, this is definitely a bit weird - if you defend with a shield, unbalanced isn't an issue, so both axes and maces are objectively better than swords: They do the same damage, cost less money and have either the hack or pummel quality, while the sword has none. So the sword is the ...

Re: Defensive talents and shield block against ranged?
[Edit because I made some mistakes]
In short: Rules as Written: Yes. Rules as Intended: No, see edit at the end of the post.
Long version:
Opposing a ranged attack with a shield is a special case since it is not an Opposed Melee/Melee test but an Opposed Melee/Ranged test and I think they ...

Strike to Stun talent seems way to powerful
Hi everyone, new player here. I have the suspicion that I misunderstood the rules, because strike to stun seems weirdly overpowered to me. It seems to me that I when I use a pummel weapon I would stun enemies on average on every second hit or so (depending on my strength), which would be an insane ...
