Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

Halfling poet Davfire Radclin, who became famous as a child by reciting Jakey Rolling's poetry has turned on him, publicly denouncing him as a narrow-minded bigot at the start of the annual Mootland Games. Of course Davfire is preparing for his greatest challenge, taking on og... sorry... halfling ...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

If anything that kind of humorous scenario hook can make some lovely 2020 commentary on the controversies facing cis-female athletes. Just the kind of "thought provoking" content I'm sure everyone will welcome. "'Arry might be 7 ft. tall and built like a small watch tower, but we fou...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

You haven't mentioned humour and black comedy much, which is the main way I introduced social justice movements into my games. My last TOBCON scenario changed Karl from The Thousand Throne s into Karla - a Greta Thunberg clone. Her followers were busy trying to tear down a statue of Sigmar, daubing...

Re: Solkan: Lawful God of Vengeance and Retribution

https://www.docdroid.net/obgv8Gj/chaos-doc.pdf That was definitely an inspiration - I read that on the old Strike to Stun forum! https://www.docdroid.net/obgv8Gj/chaos-doc.pdf Where is this originally from? IIRC, it was an internal Games Workshop document from the early days of Warhammer, which one...

Re: End Times: Nagash - the 'Good'

The Gods of Law barely feature in the End Times but their effective proxy is the undead. Basically, the credible case is made that Nagash and his world of the dead are the true opposite of the Ruinous Powers - unchanging and permanent, if Nagash destoys all life, then the Chaos Gods will die. This ...

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?

I’ve been running a 4th edition game for the last 12 months, and one of my players is a Wizard. We certainly haven’t found the class unplayable, or even underpowered. Dart is his go-to spell in combat, and we’ve found it exceptionally effective in combat. The damage output is (usually) minimal, but ...

Re: Solkan: Lawful God of Vengeance and Retribution

Afternoon, chaps. This one just came to me, thought I’d share it here as well: “The night is darksome, Chill and deep. May Solkan guard thee while you sleep.” “The Witching Moon Calls forth Old Night. Solkan be thy shield ‘Til morning’s light.” - Stirland children’s rhyme, some substitute Sigmar’s n...

Re: Fear and Loathing in 4th Edition

Agreed. And Resolve and Resilience Points seem a terrible fit for WFRP’s grim and perilous vibe more generally.

Re: TEW Remastered - Collectors Edition Preorder!

As far as i can see the only difference in the actual product* of the special edition is the 'special covers' ( which i don't like that much ). Am i wrong? * As opposed to the 'extras' like 'developer diaries' and an earlier PDF. You’re not wrong, I got the same impression from C7’s Facebook post. ...

Re: Ahalt the Drinker

To my knowledge, no. Ahalt the Drinker is briefly mentioned in Tome of Salvation as well but it doesn't add any additional information. Turns out I was wrong. Ahalt’s also mentioned a few times in C.L. Werner’s novel The Black Plague, where one of his druids appears as a minor villain. Ahalt’s desc...

Re: Solkan: Lawful God of Vengeance and Retribution

Cheers for the replies. The Gods of Law are one of the things I find most interesting about the WFRP setting (and it’s a real shame that GW abandoned them so quickly). I’ll probably be writing a few more bits and pieces for my campaigns, and will be sure to post them here. It’d also be great to set ...

Solkan: Lawful God of Vengeance and Retribution

Evening, all. If you're playing in my WFRP game in Northfields, then please don't read any further. Everyone else, I've written up some background and rules with my thoughts on how the Cult of Solkan might operate in 4th edition and a couple of handouts for use in my campaign. Let me know if you hav...

Re: Children PCs in WFRP4

Yeah, that sounds about right. How old are the characters going to be? I’d be tempted to waive the -10 penalty to Agility and Dexterity, as those reviews areas where a child character might even have the advantage over an adult. Depending on their background, access to Skills such as Stealth and Out...

I've never heard of anyone using him in a game, although he seems well suited to a Wicker Man style scenario.

Re: Miracles of Solkan

The problem I see is that with this kind of loose determination for the subject of the effect is that it can degenerate into a "I think..." vs "But I think..." unless you've done something terribly wrong with explaining things to your group, it should be understood that what the...

That's a good suggestion, but it's already included in Soulfire (the Miracle of Sigmar that I adapted).

Solkan’s not in any published materials from C7. These would be house rules.

Re: Miracles of Solkan

Overall, not bad. I like the re-use of other abilities (Soulfire/Unblemished Innocence/etc). My only real concerns are with A) Commination (did you mean Condemnation?) seems a little OP, I might change it to say that the flames can be extinguished with another spell or by dousing with holy water or...

If you’re playing in my 4th edition game, please stop reading. Everyone else... What do you think of the following house rules for Miracles of Solkan in the 4th edition game that I’m GMing? Give me a shout as to whether they sound balanced and appropriate, and whether you’d make any changes? Miracl...
