Re: New Careers?

not sure you should have to take a separate career just to not be a prick at doing your job, even if it is highway robbery.

Re: Career Specific Traits Homebrew

That's quite a bit of effort, impressive! going through it, but i feel like these might be a bit too powerful for some people's games. reversing dice is "roll 2, pick the highest" in almost all instances after all. gamemaster beware, i guess.

Re: Imperial Calendar

Have someone an idea (or some sources) on how could be determined random lunations of Morrsliebe and eclipses of the Sun, of Mannsliebe and of Morrsliebe? well, we have the seasonal calendar and the rough amount of hours in the day, so someone with astronomy experience would be able to put together...

Re: Spells for New Wizards

The grimore isn't related to petty magic, it's spells for when they gain the arcane lore talent and it's entirely up to the GM. Note that just taking the talent itself doesn't teach you any spells, so you should point that out ahead of time. A grimore is effectively the spells he'll be able to learn...

Good luck with your games, guys! as a quick aside, is "WFRP Classic Edition" 1st or 2nd edition? that kinda stuck out at me.

careers are grouped into classes, rather than having exits so staying in job in one of the eight classes and then having for...i guess sub-careers for advancement. you can skip pretty much any which-way through careers, classes, and sub-careers though so i don't know if i'd called the higher level o...

Re: New Careers?

i remember several careers in 3rd revolved around having special equipment as part of the career rather than skills, so i think it might be best to overlook it.

Re: Enemy Within Volume Two announced! (And a gamemaster screen's too!)

Middenland or Middenheim? Middenland. Interesting. It suggests what direction changes to Power Behind the Throne might go in. I wonder if City of Chaos supplement will also appear, or if they're leaving that as is. it's not like WFRP has ever made any distinction between middenheim and the entire i...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ

One year and still people are crying about shields. I suggest to make a disclaimer noting all the things that each members abhors in 4th and how they individually fixed them. Thus, any new member can find solutions for his own problems. And hopefully we can move on. with the rules as written being ...

Re: Fairy-Feller's Masterstroke: Introduction

as far as going forward, i suggest keeping things fairly open but focused on getting the reader understanding how the adventurers should be motivated as they go forward. maybe putting asides when it seems like there's a lot of ways for them to screw things up. and keeping a healthy dose of fatalism ...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ

yeah it's miles better to have armor than a shield, especially if you aren't using simplified armor

Re: Official WFRP FAQ

I can see this as a good strategy maybe when you are at zero wounds and you have brought down to zero your armor AP in at least one location. But it’s not a fantastic strategy, you are increasing the odds of being hit by no small margin, meaning also you are giving more advantage to your opponent. ...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ

the -20 translates into taking +2 damage, so unless you have a large shield those APs are JUST there for crit negation at that point and i don't think accepting more damage in the hopes of avoiding a random crit is a sound plan. Crits are brutal, personally I think you’d be a fool not to avail of t...

Sad to see STS go. I didn't post there much, but it was a great resource. Any links to what happened? But good to see there's still a community. there was a change to the laws regarding sites that maintain user data, and server goddess couldn't wrangle the mess of old code into shape for it without...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ

the only way to explain some of these rulings is they don't actually understand their own game system, which i assume isn't true because My gods but then that leaves that they just don't want to explain things if they get complex. You can't be serious. You mean you're supposed to generate the critic...

Re: Zapp's house rules collection (take 2)

Seems fairly well put together, all in all. I'm not sure what you're getting into with the dex stuff but then i prefer to sneak traps into campaigns more often than some people so dealing with them is an actual issue for groups i run.

Re: Enemy With Shadows Details

Shadows over Bogenhafen suggests following on from The Oldenhaller Contract as "less satisfactory" and doesn't add much of a narrative hook; "Bogenhafen is lovely this time of year." TBH, that'd be quite compelling for the Empire if we didn't sll know lovely meant trans-dimensional portals to hell....

Re: On Strength

oh no, my problem is they like to try and "force" the game to run like D&D because i'm friends with most of the murderhobo players in the area and as the GM they figure they outnumber me, but that is good advice! thanks anyways zapp
