Re: unbalanced races

If the core system it was added to was functional they could have made advantage into a useful system, ... This may be a wild proposal. Wouldn't that mean that it may be worth trying the 4e advantage system with 1e or 2e? Did someone try such a thing? as-written advantage is overwhelmingly powerful...

Re: unbalanced races

I'm not a professional game designer, but my proposal - to use a rule invented forty years ago by actually good developers - is objectively better than C7's rushed and sloppy Advantage rule- Not to defend advantage, but "rushed and sloppy" doesnt' apply to it. The advantage system is a extremely th...

Now. I'm not saying that a GM should tune the NPCs to take away all the excellent cool things a player has built their character to do-
-but if you don't it's going to snowball on you because of how the rules work so you kind of HAVE to.

Re: unbalanced races

A human with a stat of 45 vs an elf with a stat of 55 is going to win 40 % of the time - the elf will win 60 % of the time. Except I asked habankm about that, and this isn't the problem he's worried about. He's worried about players playing a human being outclassed by another player playing an elf....

Re: Missing: Pamphlet about mutants are people too!

nah. the mutant hostel is a secret deal and is hidden away from the city in that book, as i recall.

there's another mutant orphanage in welcome to marienburg, i think. but that's also a secretive thing.

Re: Enemy In Shadows Companion Available

As far as I can tell, none of the official WFRP or WFB publications (not counting Boxtree or Black Library) have ever listed a date of death for Karl-Franz's father. Boxtree, which is an official publisher, but a novel one, not a roleplay nor battle one, did, p. vij of its Warhammer novels and anth...

I'll try to update this topic when I collect some observations using dummy elf stats instead of one of PC.
are the PCs not enough of a dummy for you?

Re: Channeling VS Channeling (Any Colour)

Channeling's text on page 120 states that the skill can be both specialized and unfocused, and singles out witches and the like as the ones that use it in the more general capacity. From that it's clear that witchcraft uses channeling in a general capacity (and that arcane spells can be created with...

Re: Cubicle 7 dropping the Lord of the Rings

The plot definitely thickens. That farcebook comment is a lot more specific than Cubicle7's vague contractual issues (not to mention contradictory). Something is not right there. No, no...this makes sense. unlike their usual slapdash encouragement posting, this is a serious legal matter and they ne...

Re: Cubicle 7 dropping the Lord of the Rings

from what (little) they said, sounds like their deal with GW has some sort of conflicts they weren't expecting. What sort of conflict are you imaging here? probably IP lisancing shenanigans with the tolkien estate complaining. and possibly GW just actively making things worse because they've got th...

from what (little) they said, sounds like their deal with GW has some sort of conflicts they weren't expecting. knowing that both GW and the tolkien estate are remorselessly horrible with contracts i'm honestly not surprised. guess i'll have to settle for second-hand when i can afford to check the L...

Re: Looking for really dark adventure

There was an adventure in 3rd editon "Eye for an eye" that deals with the adventurers holing up in a lodge deep in the woods only to learn the lodge's servants are harboring a chaos cult. they kind of flub the suspense (because it's 3rd, so they kept the action going too fast) but if you can stretch...

Re: Playing in Norsca

i'd think the major differences are that norsca has little farming compared to the empire and bretonnia (they're fishers/whalers in addition to raiding as i understood it) and their beliefs are a tribal thing, so two tribes might worship entirely different pantheons of gods even though they're like ...

Re: Warhammer Old World, a.k.a. WFB returns.

GW will want to differentiate this from Age of Sigmar and probably reflect the Total War game... so I expect they'll go for an aesthetic which is lower fantasy than AOS. I would prefer a low fantasy game, or 'realistic' fantasy, but i wouldn't tagTotal War up as low fantasy. i've got heavy metal al...

Re: unbalanced races

Here's a question, how do you handle a player bringing in a new character after they lose one? If there game has been going a while and said character wasn't a human that died to their Dooming or reached their long term ambition the attribute difference will be even greater. I say this because it s...

Re: Part 1 of Doomstones out on DrivethruRPG

wonderful news on this! i always found doomstones to be the better of the two epic campaigns myself, and it's filled with very good lessons for new players to learn as well as just wonderful characterization. i might have to pick this up to ease the wear on future uses of my photocopied manuscript. ...
