Re: Pirates of the Reik
Does the Reik have locks? I don’t have DOTR with me at the moment, but I thought it was the canals rather than the river that has locks - in fact, I don’t think rivers can have locks as they have a current. You are correct: locks are at narrows, and canals. I did not register that for some reason. ...

Re: Pirates of the Reik
I know I can make the world my own, make Reik as wide as I want. But it is still a river with locks. So yeah, can’t really see how it can be riddled with pirate activity.
Not sure why this irks me so much, but I guess I have to find ways to make myself question and whine!

Pirates of the Reik
I have lamented the lack of bigger bodies of water in the past. And while this is not about the same thing, it is still watery. So, Reik is, at the most, about 200 meters wide. I do not have any experience comes to pirating and raiding, but am finding it odd there’d be a lot of criminal activity giv...

NECROMANCY!
Was checking the 4th edition, and there roadwardens start with crossbows. Only when you get to sergeant you get to play with guns. Not sure what the driver for that was, but had to come back here to mention it!

Was that ever expanded? And is it in direct conflict with how many other things? And lastly: can all that be found elsewhere, was it ever collected into a single file?

Re: Roadwardens and pistols
Some stuff about firearms and armour (most likely old news):

Does not seem so clear-cut, a lot of variables. But yes, in the video the musket destroys the breast plate! "Armour piercing" would not be a misnomer.

Re: Roadwardens and pistols
Yes, their prices were high. And I, too, remember reading the destructive capabilities of early firearms were not so great. But cheap to produce, easy to aim, and did the job in massed battles.

Roadwardens and pistols
Just occurred to me roadwardens (and river wardens) carry pistols. To me it sounds a tad too ”expensive”, and, given the nature of their business, too high maintenance. I guess pistols are okay in the hands of roadwardens patrolling around major cities, but I find it odd they’d be common in the hand...

That’s what I have been using as the rationale as well. But I would have liked to see a few lakes.

Re: 20% off from the C7 store with the new Humble Bundle
I lamented the lack of bodies of fresh water in the Empire back in the day, old forum times. Not that it matters much, but I do find it odd there still are no lakes or ponds or similar.
