Re: It's Your Funeral - anybody played it?
Thank you Shambler for the answer! Your experience is particularly valuable since you played also Rough Night at Three Feathers - how does it compare? I also think that one of the advantages of this seven-plot design (septuple?) lies in its flexibility: even should you miss two or three plots (or GM...

It's Your Funeral - anybody played it?
I am preparing to run It's Your Funeral for two different groups of players, but I am struggling with some of the details. As much as I like the format of Rough Night at Three Feathers , I am starting to doubt whether it is that easy to transfer the formula of seven parallel plots, a single timeline...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
I meant Godly Order as all individual deities having their place in the pantheon and ruling over specific domains, as a system of relationships between gods, mortals and the world (antagonism to small-c chaos as well as opposed to Chaos). There are rare changes in the Godly Order such as when one de...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
Is atheism possible in a polytheist society? Enter Dantism . In the southern provinces of the Empire a so far - and luckily - rare disease of Dantism is spreading. It is a form of religious scepticism, which in a world, where deities directly manifest themselves and religious practices are working, ...

Hacking 1e casting
Hi guys, I am thinking of taking 1e as the basis for my homebrewed magic system. Reasons: I like the various kinds of magic much more than the later simplistic blueprint. The following concerns only arcane magic: I am yet uncertain whether to retain magic points (or devise some simple formula to tra...

Re: Custom minor deity concept: Pharos, God of the Dark Light
I like the idea. In terms of religious practice, I would say: - councilors, envoys, diplomats and advisors offer him a small token of faith or prayer before important negotiations - anybody going to a merchant (who for sure pays his dues to Handrich or Ranald) who does not want to be duped - travell...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
Motivated by this board I have spent the last couple of days with reading the 1e rulebook and 2e Tome of Salvation (which I am not fully through yet although I found already many answers and confirmations of suggestions of other posters to my original questions - I will write about this more soon). ...

Re: It's your funeral
I grabbed it the other day. I've only read through The Garden Morr section, which was a little useful. The map of the cemetery is not bad. In a medieval city I would not expect such neatly squarish plots of land... and such low grave density outside of nobles' sectors either. Also depicting a coupl...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
Guys, thank you so much for the great discussion, especially contributions by Orin, Knight of the Lady, Wolf and Whymme. You gave me a lot to think about.
I am currently on vacation and without access to my rulebooks or a PC, I will get back to this topic as soon as I am able.

Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
Hi everybody, we do not have many examples of real societies that would be as technologically and culturally advanced as the Empire and practice polytheism in some of its major variants, so the question of realism might be invalid from the very start. However, when one looks at the Imperial pantheon...

Re: Solutions to Whiffing
I was also thinking of introducing opposed rolls, but it seems counterintuitive. The whiff-feeling occurs from the low share of successes (or impactful results) on the overall number of rolls. Opposed rolls just double the amount of rolls, unless you rule that also failed rolls (i.e. above your WS) ...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
A few days ago we tested the 4e combat system. A couple of early impressions: - For early characters, the system seems to offer relatively few tactical choices (every special action such as disarm seems to require a specific Talent) compared to the 'handling time', i.e. the number of operations one ...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
My analysis was from the design perspective, not player perception. I would agree that some math-oriented players want to game the system and will realise these flaws. I also think that many players will realise them from experiencing the game even without doing any mathematical analysis. And as Ori...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
Hi, I am new to the boards (or indeed, any WFRP boards). I have been playing WFRP since the late 1990s, as a GM I have led the first two TEW instalments and a couple of published adventures as well as my own campaign - and we also started Dying of the Light - in 1e. We later switched to 2e, but I wa...
