Re: Pirates of the Reik
River wardens and locals will probably be either behind the piracy or paid off by those responsible. Local nobility might even want a part of it, if more formally obtained ‘taxes’ and ‘fees’ don’t seem quite enough. But yes, I suggest small boats rather than large ships roaming the rivers would be t...

Re: Gnomes in 2nd edition
Additionally, a very different version of gnomes for WFRP was created by Green Ronin in their tips for incorporating Freeport into the Old World: https://greenronin.com/freeport/2007/11/14/grim_and_perilous_freeport/ Officially, Gnomes do not exist in the Old World. That these diminutive folk were m...

Re: Best adventures
The heart of WFRP is The Enemy Within campaign because it is full of wonderful adventures. As I’m sure you are aware, the are versions for 1st and 4th edition. Shadows Over Bogenhafen is a good one to drop in, even if you aren’t interested in the whole campaign. Otherwise, let me recommend a couple ...

Re: Mutation and Ableism
Vargr Breughel is the dwarf As I recall the position is a bit more muddled than it first appears: SPOILER At first he is presented simply as a human with restricted height unfairly rejected by many humans as being a dwarf and not accepted by dwarfs as he is a human. As such, there appears to be no ...

Re: Reviews and opinions of WFRP 4e adventures
My thought was that there was a strong chance that players would begin to wonder why there was a mill being built in the middle of an out of the way swamp. It seems a ridiculous place to put it: it doesn’t appear to be conveniently located and, since the ground is swampy won’t offer a suitable stron...

Richard Halliwell
I see Graeme Davies has posted that Richard Halliwell has died.
He was a titan of games design for GW, including working on WFRP, and an important figure in creating the Warhammer World.

Re: WFRP4's Altdorf vs. WFRP2's Altdorf
One issue that immediately occurs to me is that WFRP 2 is set chronogically later than TEW. This could require some work on your part.

Re: Reviews and opinions of WFRP 4e adventures
By far and away the best adventures I have read for 4th edition are in Rough Nights and Hard Days. One is a classic republished and one a major expansion on a former largely lost adventure and some of the others don’t always quite hit the mark but overall it’s a good collection. Gideon’s review over...

Re: Reviews and opinions of WFRP 4e adventures
The Hogshead final part of the Doomstones campaign, Heart of Chaos , I think epitomises the 'blood, shit and misery' approach - it was written by Robin D. Laws, whose own Warhammer novels also strike that tone. You know, all these years and I've never read the Doomstones campaign. One of these days...

Re: Reviews and opinions of WFRP 4e adventures
If you want something more sand-boxy, you might want to take a look at the Starter set. I bought that and it's what prompted me to buy into WFRP4. Besides simplified rules, dice and characters sheets, you also have a 65-page city guide for Übersreik and that is immensely useful. That sold me on wha...

Isn’t that from Terror of the Lichemaster?
It got a WFRP repackaging in the Flame days, I think, too.

I’m pretty sure it ends with Brunner doing a runner when the Mardagg actually turns up too.

I’ve always thought the Dragon Warriors adventure, A Box of Old Bones, could, with a little work, be successfully converted to a good WFRP adventure.Knight of the Lady wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 10:36 pmHe isn't above paying people to steal/kidnapp gods/images that he thinks he can get a good price for either.

Re: Almarr???
I haven’t heard of it (not very helpful, I appreciate.)
I suspect it might be a something created for someone’s own personal game, unless someone else has more information. What are the fan adventures it appears in? Are they by the same person?

On a side note, I am not sure to get why Norse and British range of archetypes and stereotypes would be familiar and humorous enough to works best among sources of influence for Warhammer Fantasy , while Ashkenazim range of archetypes and stereotypes might be unfamiliar and unhumorous enough to be ...

Re: Martin McKenna
It’s a terribly young age. Unfortunately, it appears it may have been self inflicted. Graeme Davis posted this: “Most tragically of all, it appears that Martin took his own life. Especially in these trying times, make sure you check in on your friends and loved ones. Even a brief phone call, text, o...

Martin McKenna
I saw a post from Graeme Davis suggesting Martin McKenna has sadly passed away.
His work probably did more to create the visual identity of The Enemy Within than anyone else. If correct , he’ll be missed.

Re: Best object quests
The campaign that came in the Advanced HeroQuest main game was essentially a broken object quest in four parts (or five parts if you count the 'surprise' added section at the end of the fourth part separately). You wouldn't need to buy the whole game, only the rulebook. I’m not sure there’s really ...
