Re: Advice for getting the WFRP tone right for scenarios?

I'm not sure about "Adventures take place in the shadows" While some (possibly even the majority) do, there are some that by necessity are either not in the Shadows or involve major characters supplanting each other and therefore definitionally "not in the shadows".

Re: Beasts in Velvet conversion

I don't know that anybody has, but it would seem to be relatively straightforward. C7 released a conversion guide for past editions, while it works less well for monsters, it does work pretty well for PCs (and NPCs).

Re: The Empire: From Civil Strife to the Storm

In all of the versions of TEW, has any thought ever been given to the impact on other nations? Perhaps with the exposure of the changelings/civil war, other countries might try and exploit the situation such as Tilea or Brettonia or even Ulthuan? Might make for an interesting epilogue, especially si...

Campaign help, setting the mood for Athel Loren/Wild Hunt

I am starting to outline my next campaign part of which will involve The Wild Hunt and Athel Loren in central roles.

Can anybody recommend any inspirational movies/books/shows/etc to help me get a feel for the mood?

Thanks,

Re: Speaking with and summoning the dead

Not really. I would just make up something, probably either a religious or magical ritual.

The 2e book Realms of Sorcery and/or Tome of Salvation can probably provide some good inspiration.

Just damage, I would think. I'll re-read it again later tonight though.

Re: Changing career tier

Building in downtime for Endeavors between chapters is always a good idea. And being in communication about what their character's career goals and when they anticipate making those changes is also a good idea because as a GM, you need to be seeding the hooks ahead of time.

You pretty listed why wizards are too powerful in this edition.

I don't know if the Winds of Magic book will fix the magic system, but the setting deserve a more balanced and dangerous magic.
Well said.

I see no reason why you couldn't introduce Archaon as a new minor chaos God alongside Malal/Hashut/Horned Rat if you wanted to. Have Larry S Zooman report to Archaon directly?

Re: Where to go? Where to avoid?

Aranius is a world with no solid planetoid. Instead it is a sphere of air held together by magic, interspersed by floating islands of a light pumice like substance (Azyrite). This porous 'stone' (unlike the original source material, Azyrite is easily sealed to hold water) is produced by Azyr Grubs w...

Re: Where to go? Where to avoid?

Pryan is an immense jungle world that we would call a Dyson Sphere with a sun in the middle surrounded by an orbital-sized shell of rock. The trees grow hundreds of meters tall in layers upon layers of vegetation and tiered cities are built on their broad branches. These trees are fed by vast subter...

Re: Where to go? Where to avoid?

I have been a big fan of the Death Gate Cycle novels for a long time, so while it may not be the most canonically faithful imagination, I think you could have a lot of fun with Ghyran <-> Pryan Azyr <-> Aranius Aqshy <-> Aberrach Of those, Ghyran or Azyr is probably the one that grabs at me the most...

Re: WFRP x AOS Soulbound

From my understanding, the statistics and game mechanics are very different. AoS reminded me of WhiteWolf WoD from a game mechanics perspective. If you wanted to bring AoS into WFRP or vice versa, I think you'd have to do a lot of work to convert adventures or just homebrew your own to approximate t...

Re: Any chance of a Soulbound subforum?

It's hate. Not because AoS is bad or different, but (mostly) because GW killed off WFB to make it happen. If GW had not killed off Fantasy but transitioned it to Forgeworld, similar to how they have transitioned LotR SBG to be a minimally supported game with occasional new models via Forgeworld, and...

Re: You can't get there from here. Not until Tuesday.

As a personal thing, I dislike mass transit in RPGs that is cheap & fast & safe. I feel it takes a lot of the adventure out of exploration and removes a lot of potential for adventure hooks. To that end, I have removed all Realmgates that go from one realm to somewhere else within that realm. In mos...

Re: Recruiting the Soulbound

All good questions, and I don't really know either. But if I had to make something up, I would say that when mortals die and go to Sigmar for judgement (let's say, substitute Alarielle, Grungni, Teclis, etc as needed), he picks some out and then imbues them with a spark of his essence 'binding' them...
