Re: Does anyone have a link to this old thread on Strike To Stun?

Yes, that thread was the origin of my 'WFRP Story' posts. I had made some notes of how ideas developed through early editions of Warhammer, purely for personal interest. I was about to delete them in a clearout, but decided to post them on StS in case others were interested. I nearly didn't, as it s...

Re: Pirates of the Reik

So, Reik is, at the most, about 200 meters wide. I doubt sources have been consistent on this, but WFRP1 (p283) says the Reik is up to 200 yards wide between Altdorf and Nuln. It is much wider downstream of Altdorf. WFRP4 (p269) is vaguer: between Altdorf and Nuln the Reik is "so wide it frequ...

Re: New Group - Suggestions for One Shot

I usually recommend 'Night of Blood', a classic WFRP1 scenario. C7 provide a free WFRP4 version of it here:

You might want to cut the initial combat if you want to fit it into a single session.

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

I find it curious given the alternatives that have been proposed by both official custodians and fans to Empire In Flames and given that Empire In Flames wasn't part of the original design for The Enemy Within Campaign, though i might be misremembering that last part, and i'm not sure there was a f...

Try folk horror meets kitchen-sink drama with a touch of Monty Python. My conclusions from my BOSR Zeitgeist tweets might be relevant: "#BOSR Zeitgeist What characteristics of the cultural milieu stand out from these tweets? I would point to: Dystopianism Moral ambiguity Horror and violence Bri...

I discover (and am very surprised) from the introduction that "inflammable" means "not flammable" in English (at the exact opposite of its French and Latin meaning from which the word was borrowed.... A quite dangerous deceptive cognate for English speakers travelling in (some, ...

It's been rumoured for years now. I think if it was going to appear, we'd have heard something official by now.

As Karanthir said, it's a conversion of a fan-made WFRP3 scenario:

Re: Alternate Castle Wittgenstein maps

Not really related, but a very long time ago, I have made this document (without key, so players could progressively discover it) which superpose the different layers of Castle Wittgenstein, and underline few layer inconsistencies, such as the scale, the wind rose (but that might perhaps be an erro...

Re: What and where is Zaiyon?

I, too, think it's bit of a leap from a dwarf-Jew analogy to identifying goblinoids with real-world groups. (That it's unclear whether the relevant real-world group is Muslims, Crusaders or Romans highlights the problem.) However, I think the bigger problem is that it has not in my opinion been esta...

Re: What and where is Zaiyon?

@Karanthir Great find, and thanks for pointing it out. I did a search on Biblical quotes and read plenty of passages from the real Book of Revelation, but didn't realise it was from The Omen. The similiarity is, as you say, clearly intentional, then. Exactly what the intention was, though, is not cl...

Re: What and where is Zaiyon?

Yes, the Zaigon spelling probably comes from me. I misread the handout. (In fact, it was only after careful examination yesterday that I realised it is actually Zaiyon.) I think any account of the origins of dwarfs in Warhammer has to start with Tolkien. Writers like Rick Priestley have acknowledged...

None. I just get an image of a red M in a cloud, plus two small icons linking to MEGA's Facebook and Twitter accounts. But no file.

Article on the purple hand on C7's homepage: https://www.cubicle7games.com/wfrp-the-purple-hand-clarification/ It's a bit frustrating that the issues with the organisation of the Purple Hand have still not been resolved. They've been known for a long time. I've discussed this exact point in my Comp...

Re: Best object quests

Which I suspect is why Gideon has posted this question: though common set ups for adventures, the execution is mainly fairly dull. Although I feel should be able to think of lots of examples, I am having a hard time thinking of much. Yes, it feels like RPGs should be awash with good quest scenarios...

Re: Travel times for Death on the Reik

As the 4th edition Death on the Reik stands, there is, I believe, no way to calculate travelling times. I discuss the issue briefly in my reviews of Death on the Reik and the Death on the Reik Companion: https://awesomeliesblog.wordpress.com/2020/09/10/take-me-to-the-river/ https://awesomeliesblog.w...
