Re: Childhood in the Empire
I would drop the Cruel World Talent, as not having metacurrencies a) sucks beyond belief (especially with such lousy stats) and b) makes armour even more essential. If anything, I'd be tempted to give children less Resilience and more Fate. I agree that would make sense if you were running children...

Re: Childhood in the Empire
To expand on my previous post about playing characters growing up in an Imperial fishing village, I’ve mocked up a few background generation charts. I’ve worked in a few grim themes, to reinforce the idea that the Empire can be a pretty brutal, inequalitarian and unpleasant place, while aiming to av...

Childhood in the Empire
One of the ideas I’ve got on the backburner is for a game set in your average Imperial (or Bretonnian) peasant villlage. In this case, it’d probably be a fishing village on the Sea of Claws. I’d probably have the PCs start as children in the village, and have months or even years pass between game s...

Reflections on downtime
The PCs in my 4th edition Border Princes game recently took their first downtime. I thought I’d share our experiences with the downtime rules, and my reflections on what worked for us and what didn’t. My players asked to take a 3 week downtime. I had originally offered them a 1 week downtime, before...

Re: Musings on Etiquette
I’m the GM of the game in question. While we haven’t discussed the value of the Etiquette Talent at the table yet, I thought I’d throw in my initial thoughts here. I agree that asking players to spend 100 XP for a Talent that essentially allows them to pass as a member of their own Career doesn’t re...

Re: Thought Experiment: EW with bad guy PCs
[Even in "Enemy Within" so far we've had one Khorne cultist, one Slaanesh cultist and a Chaos Dwarf and the party didn't fall apart and we didn't indulge in random acts of "Stupid Evil" activity. We did even have the Khorne and Slaanesh cultist in the same party, along with a zealous Sigmarite knig...

Re: Thought Experiment: EW with bad guy PCs
Fair enough, you know your group a lot better than we do.
If I were to go this route myself, I’d be inclined to have all the PCs be members of one specific Cult (e.g. you’re all Yellow Fang, or all worshippers of Ahalt) to bind them more closely together, but YMMV.

Re: Thought Experiment: EW with bad guy PCs
I think that a party such as you are advocating would collapse fairly quickly, as Herr Arnulfe predicts. Theft, torture and murder pale quite quickly - I believe cartoony type villains have a chance to last longer as PCs, such as Skaven or Goblinoids. Having said that, one could take each player as...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
I agree with this 100%. However, I still think Toby, Stuart and James should start a far-right fanzine in protest against the new paradigm of inclusivity and representation. It could provide an outlet for all the WFRP fans who feel alienated by lefty sensitivity. Sure thing, Jude... because everyon...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
Sigmar's Justice & Peace Warriors "Big Red" was believed to have immolated when the comet hit Mordheim, delivering a sermon to it that it was woman-hating sorcery at its worst. The comet proved to be quite egalitarian, as history shows. Either way, "Big Red" was not seen after the comet's destructi...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
Perhaps the Empire might be plagued by a fringe cult that similarly demands absolute ideological purity of its members, including slavish obedience to its prophets’ ever-changing demands. Differentiating this cult of “Sigmarite Justice Warriors” from other forms of puritans and theocrats might be c...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
Again, Herr Arnulfe, you're using fairly aggressive language to suggest that leftists (which I assume you identify with) have immutable characteristics that make them superior. In this case it is moral superiority, and a feeling of moral superiority, as we know, leads to justification of some prett...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
Breaking news! The Mootland Games are overshadowed by fresh controversy when the shocking revelation that celebrated trans-Ogre activist Joosie Smallest has been beaten up by a pair of Halflings who told him “this is Mootland country”. Not to be outdone, Arry claims to have found a pitchfork - a tra...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
Halfling poet Davfire Radclin, who became famous as a child by reciting Jakey Rolling's poetry has turned on him, publicly denouncing him as a narrow-minded bigot at the start of the annual Mootland Games. Of course Davfire is preparing for his greatest challenge, taking on og... sorry... halfling ...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
If anything that kind of humorous scenario hook can make some lovely 2020 commentary on the controversies facing cis-female athletes. Just the kind of "thought provoking" content I'm sure everyone will welcome. "'Arry might be 7 ft. tall and built like a small watch tower, but we found him as a cal...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation
You haven't mentioned humour and black comedy much, which is the main way I introduced social justice movements into my games. My last TOBCON scenario changed Karl from The Thousand Throne s into Karla - a Greta Thunberg clone. Her followers were busy trying to tear down a statue of Sigmar, daubing...

https://www.docdroid.net/obgv8Gj/chaos-doc.pdf That was definitely an inspiration - I read that on the old Strike to Stun forum! https://www.docdroid.net/obgv8Gj/chaos-doc.pdf Where is this originally from? IIRC, it was an internal Games Workshop document from the early days of Warhammer, which one...

Re: End Times: Nagash - the 'Good'
The Gods of Law barely feature in the End Times but their effective proxy is the undead. Basically, the credible case is made that Nagash and his world of the dead are the true opposite of the Ruinous Powers - unchanging and permanent, if Nagash destoys all life, then the Chaos Gods will die. This ...
