I'm sorry to say the Web Archive has no copy of that particular forum thread. Otherwise checking the Wayback Machine is always worth it when you're looking for old lost internet sites.

Re: 4th to 1st rules adaptation
I'm afraid the only practical conversion document will, in my opinion, read:
"Drop 4th edition".
That's it really. I spent a huge amount of time thinking, analyzing and play-testing 4th Edition, trying to fix issues and rewrite rules as needed. Nothing (and I mean nothing) this edition adds to the ...

Re: Earl of Fife Games Announces Licensing Deal for Tetsubō - Former Warhammer Fantasy Setting Expansion
That brings me right back to the 80s.
At first blush, it did me too.
However, I am saddened to hear they went with a 1) new 2) generic 3) dice pool game. That's three strikes out of three. Instead writing the new iteration of the Tetsubō campaign world for an 1) existing, play-tested, rule-set ...

Re: 4th to 1st rules adaptation
Cap, I would love to read a post by you about the possible modifications to apply to 2nd edition.
I already know the "number of attacks" House rule you wrote back in the StStun days and it works like a charm! I'm curious to hear if you have other nice ideas!
This time I'll be a player, not the ...

Re: 4th to 1st rules adaptation
We've run a massive campaign in 4E. Will never use the ruleset again - next time we're back to 2E.
So I've thought about which bots and bobs that can be salvaged.
The players liked the open-ended careers system. But ultimately it just isn't balanced. There's a reason skills are secondary to ...

Ah. I find it easier and faster to just make the calculation than use a table, but thanks.

Re: Simplified resolution system
4th edition switches to opposed rolls. That alone fixes a lot of whiff.
It does also introduce the potential problem of lopsided contests. Any character pouring experience into Fellowship, for instance, will quickly realize a score of maybe 75% Fel yields almost supernatural dominance of his ...

I'm pretty convinced that any cloaked figure on a horse must be able to draw a Pistol, by universal law

In other words: don't overthink WFRP economics or you'll lose 1d6 Sanity Points...

Re: WFRP 2 career advances
Yes, the "plus" in characteristics advances can be easy to misinterpret. As Hyarion says, they're all absolute, never cumulative. The plus sign is just... convention, I guess. It's meant to tell you "no, that Bodyguard isn't limited to a measly 10% in Weapon Skill, lower than anybody's starting ...

I've already voiced this sentiment elsewhere, but I guess reposting it here can't hurt:
I completely missed TOR when it first came out. I have no explanation for it not appearing on my radar, it just didn't. Once I did realize there was this acclaimed Middle-Earth game that really tried shaping ...

I would like to thank you for adding that last paragraph.

I don't want fluffy discussion, but just the basics understanding that "ymmv".
You're welcome.

Well, that's an awfully low bar to set for yourself as a rules designer...Orin J. wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 8:18 am Seems to work well enough for people with significant house-ruling in place already who view the rules as a guideline second to their own antics.

Re: Removing advantage from the game?
The hard cold truth is that 4E is a trainwreck of a system, designed by people that utterly lost track of the bigger picture. It is 2E, except every conceivable subsystem have been made more complicated, broken and cluttery. After playing it extensively I have concluded that there exists no simple ...
