Re: Who has run both enemy within and doomstones

I liked doomstones more out of the two, but this is mostly because none of my groups wanted to play tew in any real capacity, and the way doomstones is setup lends itself better to groups of mostly unfocused adventurers compared to tew's need for everyone to pay attention to the plot details.

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

honestly, i'd assumed C7's marketing was largely divorced from the situation in their warehouses before all this viral trash. at this point i'm assuming the actual delivery date is "an utter mystery to us all until it ships" and you're ordring as a sign of good faith.

Re: Minor deities or local forms of major deities?

Both is common, but it seems to also be a matter of perspective. The major cults often say lesser deities are aspects of their major deities. The minor cults at times accept this, but at times see it as heresy. I somehow remember in the old Realm of Chaos it is more or less stated that all deities ...

Re: Minor deities or local forms of major deities?

i don't think there's really one community preference over the other, either. both are fun to use and neither is particularly offensive to the lore. really you can leave it ambiguous in the face of quite a lot if you don't want to pick one. i mean if anything should be cryptic and opaque to the play...

Re: WFRP4 Dodge - When, How, and Why?

the main consequence for using dodge is that you don't have a chance to inflict damage if you win the opposed melee, which is huge. however there's always the possibility that the opponent has a way to reduce your melee, in which case dodge is a good thing to have trained.

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

the great hospice and collages of magic are both in altdorf last i checked, i fully expect to see lengthy writeups about them and their relations to ubersriek, as well as the entries on the races being focused on how they relate to the riekland in all cases. all their materials have been very focuse...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

doing everything strictly from the view of the Riekland, eh? not really what i'm here for. there's a whole empire and beyond to explore and honestly Riekland is the dullest bit of it. Yes, give us stuff about Nordland or Talabecland or Averland or.... I'm 100% behind you on this. But honestly, the ...

Re: Totally 'Ammered: An attempt at converting Runes to 4e

i don't think balance matters too much (this edition is something of a mess already) but lorewise i do have a couple nitpicks. Firstly is you've made learning runes comparatively dirt easy in contrast to the lore. to an extent this is unavoidable (dwarfs spend decades as an apprentice before going o...

Re: Shadows Over Bogenhafen help, please?

honestly, it sounds like your group is entirely uninterested in the "suspenseful mystery" sort of adventure which is the main draw of the enemy within arc to me. i'd go over it to see what plays to their own enjoyment and let, like getting them in the death on the riek by "just" going to the wittgen...

thinking about it i probably would've not had melee(basic) as part of the human or wood elf skillsets either, so it was more common and to discourage the "everyone should be good in a fight" mentality....

Re: Cathay sourcebook?

Nothing wrong with being "woke" and wanting your modern RPG product to fit modern sensibilities (especially if they are your own sensibilities). I don't want to speak for Fox, but I don't think he's saying the developer of any new Asian-inspired fantasy RPG has to be Asian, just that that's what he...

Re: Character Creation Weapon Skills

It seems to be a common industry failing (IMO) that Pregens (a) don't actually follow the character creation rules and (b) aren't optimized for the role they're intended to fulfill. while the first one is still a real problem, i just wanted to point out that an RPG character doesn't have to "fill t...

before my group decided the best way to play was to use a different system, i was going to try not losing advantage against opponents smaller than you. a case of not sweating the small stuff, if you feel what i mean.

i always leave lores as an abstract. each field of knowledge is applicable to a lot of things If you know how to apply it and i'm happy to give bonuses to people that have an interesting argument to justify their idea and make the roll. at the same time they're a great tool for the GM to drag player...

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?

I am actually rather in favor of battle mages. We've got battle priests and the mages of the Empire are supposed to spend time on actual battlefields. I'd figure many of them wouldn't want to be entirely reliant on their spells if things gets tight, after seeing how a choppa with their own eyes. An...

Crossbows were used for hunting well into the 17th century, too.
crossbows are used for hunting NOW. they just aren't as flashy as firearms so people buy them less.

Re: Warhammer Old World, a.k.a. WFB returns.

i'm not gonna judge it until i see the full roster, but the design concepts seem a little....er, shallow. and GW has been leaning towards awfully shallow design policies the last several years. i hope they'll embrace the sense of character that made WFB the big name of rank'n'flank style wargaming.
