Re: Removing advantage from the game?

The hard cold truth is that 4E is a trainwreck of a system, designed by people that utterly lost track of the bigger picture. It is 2E, except every conceivable subsystem have been made more complicated, broken and cluttery. After playing it extensively I have concluded that there exists no simple ...

Re: Concoct Talent

i think it's just there to make lore (Apothecary) more valuable, actually. herbs and medicine both have more readily obvious uses and wider applications after all. dip into learning the skill on the side, like it allows in the book, and then take the talent. seem convoluted and meaningless? so does ...

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?

I'm looking for a Warrior type character who switches out fightery talents for innate magical ones. And that these magical talents are low key, in line with what a sword, arrow, shield or chain mail do for you. They aren't high level spells that obliterate regiments. The reason isn't primarily beca...

a shame, really. gone because the UE has no grasp on how the internet functions or who they need to restrict.

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?

But it would offer me a welcome change to the "classic" wizardly character options. A charismatic folk hero type character, yet one with some innate magical ability, all while avoiding the "stuck in a tower reading dusty old books" stereotype. :) uhhhh, hate to point this out, but "charismatic folk...

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?

really i think there's not many of them, aside from some chaos warriors of tzeentch that briefly show up. the tabletop rules don't really penalize you for doing it at all (unless you count cost) and the lore tends to play up that the magical energies are too dangerous to try to wrangle while fightin...

i'd personally replace "Savvy or Suave" with "Beneath notice or Cat-Tongued". and MAYBE replace cool with gambling or entertainer of some kind. they are after all a cowardly and superstitious lot....

Thank you everyone who has contributed! For those interrested - below is a short summary of where I am heading with this based on your suggestions. ----------------------------------- Campaign background: It is set in 2312. Magnus the Pious has routed the chaos invasion in the north and is busy re-...

Re: Nurgle cults - what defines them?

I am a bit surprised by the link of Tzeentch to the elite - I would expect him to have followers among the wretched lower classes of society, who crave for change. The elite generally are pretty content where they are and would favour stability. But that aside. no, it makes a lot of sense, tzeentch...

Elementals last appeared for Warhammer Fantasy Battle in Storm of Magic which I think was published in 2010.
yeah, but that's a different kind of "elemental" and is really more avatars of the schools of magic. shit's complicated.
What's an aqshy avatar then?

Re: Fan made?

Weren’t there elementals in the past? Even a scenario that had one? EDIT: Element of Risk (White Dwarf #107) has an elemental and elemental spells. yeah, but that was in the 80s, and we don't know if he wants to tap that whole mess. it's not like D&D anyways, there's no elemental plane, the element...

Re: Fan made?

Currently I'm running a campaign using my adventures and I am running into the problem that a lot of the basic stuff that exist in almost every fantasy setting is missing. Stuff like elementals- depending on who you ask, those don't exist in warhammer.....maybe the problem is you're unfamilier with...

Re: Combat example

Does no one feel that the snowball thing (I assume this is a reference to how advantage and differences in skill ratings affect hitting, damage and avoiding getting hit, whilst also being self-perpetuating) helps make combat risky? risk that cannot be properly controlled by the gamemaster isn't a g...

Re: Nurgle cults - what defines them?

anyways i only just now bothered to check the original post- I am looking for inspiration for a Nurgle cult in my game. What drives them? What would a member be before joining? How would they recruit? Pointers to official material is great but I would rather hear how you have defined them in your ga...

What about disaffected priests/priestesses of Shallaya who want to alleviate disease in an area by distracting Nurgle to other places?
isn't "fuck up nurgle's boys" the only exception to their "do no harm" rule?

Re: One week to flesh out a new adventure ...

Another reason would be in line with the second answer; by leading the peasants in revolution , the children position themselves as the natural leaders of those peasants. Somehow (possibly with the help of the peasants ) the PCs escape and flee through the tunnel. If peasants were followers of the ...

Re: Wanna help me design my next WFPR campaign? (edition agnostic)

I have a little bit of a problem with the fimirs as smart, however... 'cause the stats tends to paint them as a pretty dumb lot. I can hand-wave that, of course, and the players are unlikely to ever see stats anyway, but for consistency I struggle with making the smart fimir thing stick. (For the r...
