Re: Rough Nights & Hard Days

It's probably better to expect nothing, but I would hope for an earlier release date, like 19th July.

Re: Fixes for Ashes of Middenheim

A lot of this is going to change whether or not you plan on running the full Paths of the Damned campaign (Ashes of Middenheim, Spires of Altdorf, Forges of Nuln) or are only running Ashes of Middenheim on it's own, so please bear that in mind. 1a) The daemon summoning. I think you need to separate ...

Re: Fixes for Ashes of Middenheim

When my group has played through it, we thought it was quite servicable as written, certainly not in any need of "substantial changes". I recognize that not everybody will like the same stuff, so it might be better if you listed the stuff you don't like or want to change.

Thanks Makrellen!

I'm not sure I understand all of your reasoning, but I do appreciate the response.

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

CapnZapp, Really it could be for any edition. I made it edition agnostic on purpose. It's just a tool to help normalize probabilities across different skill levels. I had two main goals in mind when creating it: A) Help reduce the whiff factor of low XP characters while still making higher scores be...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

I'm just a bit confused because until WSa+WSd >100 then the defender's WS has *not* had a chance to affect the outcome and all we've done is increased the Attacker's odds. After that point, yes, it is a proportional decrease, but that influence on the attacker is more than what you would get by the ...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

Do you have any reasons *why* Dodging/Parry should be removed from the game if I introduced a ToHit table? Think about where this is coming from, from a WFB perspective, even there you get to roll to Hit, then you roll to wound, then you roll an armor save (if any), and a ward save (if you have one)...

Re: Return of the Gnome

I like the nod to feel a bit more inclusive of 1e (although I will continue to hold out for a non-trivial section of the 4e Realms of Sorcery dealing with the Gods of Law) and as long as C7 can make Gnomes fill a niche that currently isn't filled, then I for one welcome our new Gnomish overlords. Th...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

My chart is just to hit. It does not take into account parrying (see question 2 above), but that will come later.

Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

So there I was, sitting at my desk, and I says to myself "Self, what to do about the perceived whiff factor?" And it seems like a solution might be to return to the wargaming roots and introduce a ToHit chart. In the linked google sheet, is a full 1-100 chart and a summary that goes by increments of...

I really like KotL's Wendigo idea.

Perhaps you could have other dreamworld inhabitants who need to be helped or appeased to provide information on the group the party is tracking.

Re: TEW - From a PC's perspective.

Whymme, that sounds a lot like Traveller where you roll for each year of military service and see what kind of missions you were sent on and what their outcomes were (skill advances, promotions, etc).

TEW - From a PC's perspective.

One of the best pieces of RPG advice I've ever received was "Do not make a character, make an *adventurer*." Meaning, make sure to give your character not just a backstory but a good reason to go adventuring, facing perils and beasts rather than sitting behind the walls of Altdorf living a 'normal' ...

Re: Encumbrance confusion

From the brief look I've had at some of the 2e encumberance rules, it looks like it may be trying to take into account both weight *and* bulk. Meaning that while gold crowns may be heavy for their size, they are relatively compact and easily stored. A sword on the other hand may not weigh a lot, but...

Re: Fate points and critical hits

I've seen this handled in two ways. 1) That's just the luck of the dice. You can get a peg leg or an artificial hand/hook, but them's the breaks. 2) The Fate Point doesn't just avoid death, it avoids the cause of death. So in this case, it would mean that you are still reduced to zero wounds and kno...

One is more general purpose, true. But I see nothing that says both don't apply at the same time, to make charge attacks especially devastating. And therein, I think, is why both exist; my $0.02

Re: Call of Cthulhu rpg adventure 'Amongst the Ancient Trees' using WFRP 2e

Clan Moulder is a great idea. You could use the Skaven god, The Horned Rat, -OR- you could just have the "unseen evil force" be the commands of a grey seer who works through his minions and finally makes an appearance at the end of the adventure. A Vampire Count who is creating "greater undead" like...

Re: Grudges!

1) An easy (subjective, I know) to come up with a list of grudges could be to come up with a list of virtues and then come up with examples of how each one failed. 2) One fun thing could be to show off the difference between how an action is perceived vs reality. Imagine if Dwarves A & B were fighti...
