Re: Reviews and opinions of WFRP 4e adventures

i agree with all your points, and the unspoken issue that the current writers have with Railroading the story for every adventure rather than finding good plot hooks to draw the players into wanting to see things through.

Re: Gnome thread archive

i was able to scrounge on the boards for a short while between it being closed and the whole thing being pulled from the internet, but that's long passed. bit of a shame nobody mentioned that article to me or i'd have exerpted it for future reference like i had the homebrew stuff i collected. ...may...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

His [Hashut's] aspect as god of Greed might be a little more problematic, but nothing that would be unexplainable, in my humble opinion... i mean given that the chaos dwarfs are engaged in an absurd rush of strip-mining to the point they're just digging huge pits for all the tar they're extracting ...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Not sure I buy Hashut being a god of law even within homebrew stuff. Kad'ai fire demons, Bull centaurs, fangs and mass human sacrifice all seem pretty Chaotic to me. Seems like you'd have to write out so much official material there's not much point keeping the name. fractulis is probably not using...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

i was gonna say, the 5th edition army book says the petrification is the dwarf's natural resistance fighting against the chaos magic coursing through their bodies to work magic.

Re: Hints of Cathay.

I wouldn't hold too much to that, C7 just likes dropping visual pops to other parts of the world. one of the career artworks in the main rulebook is clearly intended to be a lady from araby or maybe nehekara and then they didn't do much else with it.

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

it's probably best to leave the Dawi gods out of this, since their pantheon is also an ancestry thing and they can trace their lineage back to somewhere in the southern mounatan ranges, which would drastically complicate things for everyone. i'd like to agree the dwarf gods are something unlike the ...

i don't think they're sold exactly. although you'll have run up a hefty bill for schooling and have a monthly "donation" to the collages you're expected to pay off.

Re: Resolve/fortune avaible points and maximum pool.

fortune/ resolve is measured by fate / resilience. if the parent stat lowers, the child stat is lowered accordingly at the same time. you cannot have a "buffer" of fortune points left over from missing fate points, because you recalculate the fortune points every scene or use of a fate poi...

Re: Crits while opposing/parrying in melee

The rulebook states "a successful melee test" can cause a critical even in you are defender. Is a crit still caused if you are defending, roll a crit but importantly still lose the opposed melee test (ie get less SL than the attacker)? If you succeed at the opposed combat test and roll do...

Re: Casting and Advantage

When you look at the CN of some of the higher level spells my thought was that the design of the system was meant to be a magic user builds up their advantage through lower level spells and then unleashes the really powerful stuff. If a caster can't build advantage I don't really know how the highe...

Re: Empire Military Organization

I have some rough story beats planned out, but if *you* were playing in a military campaign, what would be a situation or scenario that would make you feel disappointed if it were left out? Is it really a military campaign without a session where they go on leave to have fun then spend a whole arc ...

Re: 4e Ingredients for Petty Magic

I would just say that you can't use Ingredients for Petty Magic since Petty spells are too general for specific ingredients, or to put it another way "you get what you pay for" ;). And you would be right to say it since petty magic is not considered part of any school of magic, which bars...

Re: Where are you starting the PCs in the 4e Enemy Within?

i'm pretty sure the point of delbren is that it's not on a map so it can be "two days from altdorf" without anyone being able to check and say it's not two days away, hence it being some pissant little hamlet that's not terribly important, which is why i wasn't on the map inside the covers...

Re: New miracles afteer changing career

if you're still following the requirements of your priestly job (meaning you aren't pissing off your faith) i don't see why you couldn't add new miricles by following the rules. that said, RAW doesn't actually give you any idea one way or the other, so your GM will have to have the final say.

Re: Casting and Advantage

the rule on page 236 requires you both be targeting the same thing. you gain the first advantage when you target them (which affects your casting roll) and then the second when you inflict damage.

Re: Empire Military Organization

the book heraldy of the empire gives a visual example, but to a large extent it's mostly however the nobles assert it in the state forces. i think the general gist of the emperor's required force is like: Emperor | | Generals- - -where nobles usually insist on being | | Majors- - -Knight's elite is ...
