The official errata represents how the devs think the game should work.

Re: Starter Set Advice: Are Trolls Really THAT Scary?
he overlooks a key issue for his ranting What would make the Bestiary worse would be if they carefully added appropriate Talents/Traits to all the monsters - and then did not spell the effects out right there in the stat block . That would turn the Bestiary into something a GM could only use with p...

Re: Starter Set Advice: Are Trolls Really THAT Scary?
Obviously Bestiary monsters are far too weak, mainly because their atrocious Weapon Skill scores. (In a game where heroes can achieve 60 or 70 in WS monsters need to do the same, and not because the GM decides to "tweak" the monster, but right out the gate) But this is a starter adventure....

Re: Starter Set Advice: Are Trolls Really THAT Scary?
Hello everyone, new DM to WFRP 4th Edition, but not new to DMing in general, so I’m comfortable house ruling and home brewing if I have to, but I like to play things by RAW as much as possible. Which brings me to my question( Spoiler Alert for the Starter Set adventure!): the party is expected to f...

Re: Halfling Size
I consider the doubling of damage something you'd do to hack your own WFRP. It is completely unworkable as a published product.
Fights against large opponents (for halflings) or huge opponents become entirely unsatisfying, since your Wounds, Armour and Toughness cease to have meaning.

I have no experience games mastering a halfling character precisely because of this.

Re: Starter Set complete character profile
Providing canonical examples of high level heroes is a fine endeavour. Maybe not as useful as 100 xp characters in the starter set , though. Characters you can just pick up and start using if you don't want to mess with character generation just yet. Anyway, they damn better be close to 100% rules l...

Re: Gold for WFRP at the ENnies
The ENnies don't have any particular criteria. It's like most industry awards, a way for insiders to meet up and pat each other on the back. That the public voted for WFRP is probably because of our game's devoted fan base. Not because of any particularly inspired writing. And certainly not because ...

Re: Changing Career Level
I'm currently playing a Wizard in campaign. I've just advanced to level 2 in the career, having fully completed level 1. Level 2 of Wizard however, holds very little interest to me, bar the Arcane Magic and Detect Artefact talents. I was considering taking those, and jumping to level 3 by spending ...

Re: Species' Talents
I notice there are a couple of minor unclarities and errors in the responses made so far, so let me clear things up. 1) How many species talents does a character start with? A Human generally starts with five (5) Talents: The first is Doomed. The second is either Savvy or Suave. The remaining three ...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ
Saying "presentation" is the "only" issue is the understatement of the day. The plain and simple truth is that the rules for shields in WFRP4 are among the worst I have ever seen in any ttrpg ever: not only is the "presentation" completely cocked up, the rules are entir...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ
Of course crit negation is your first priority. That said, a -20 penalty can halve your chance at succeeding on the Test. And the best chance of avoiding death and defeat is to win your Tests. Throwing that away just because there's a 10% risk of a critical in the RAW is and feels very dodgy indeed....

Re: Zapp's house rules collection (take 2)
The bonus wounds in the special table are much the same (if not identical) to what the core rules (and the bonus wounds for criticals) give you. Actually we didn't have them at first, but then a player of mine observed two-handed weapons have a greater chance of scoring a crit/special (on 10, 20... ...

Re: Official WFRP FAQ
My only sane reply is: "ditch their ideas for shields entirely. They worked fine, if not spectacular, in 2E" But to at least look down your rabbit-hole (keeping safely away from falling in ;)): one reason to not settle for a Buckler is to gain the ability to deflect arrows. (Of course, if ...

Re: Zapp's house rules collection (take 2)
Hi Zapp, Thanks for posting these! I may take inspiration for our game if/when we start it. I like most of it. A few quick comments: 1. The doubling of negative wounds for critic rolls when starting from 0 but not when starting from 1+ is an unnecessary complication. I see what it's trying to accom...
