Re: Ties between Starter Set and Enemy Within

The spoiler-free version is that there has been a coup in Ubersreik, some details of which will apparently be revealed in TEW. I think if you play the Ubersreik adventures you will know enough about the situation to GM TEW, and likewise your friend probably won't know too much (if anything) that he ...

Re: WFRP3 Resources

Sounds like a great plan to me. I've been intending to read some of these adventures, so that gives me an excuse to actually do it.

Re: WFRP3 Resources

Sorry to say I haven't played any of the adventures (I'm fairly new to GMing myself and haven't got past the official ones yet). I guess some will be easier to adapt than others. For example, I know from reading it that "The Steward of Grauwerk Manor" relies on a very specific location and...

Re: Mapping Grenzstadt (WIP - feedback wanted)

Just to note, a decrease in population could also represent people fleeing the town because of potential incoming Greenskins and then not coming back afterwards.

Re: Mapping Grenzstadt (WIP - feedback wanted)

Nothing to add to the discussion really I'm afraid (other than seconding the suggestion to have a numbered key rather than writing labels directly on the map). But it's great to have another 3rd edition player around!

Re: Origins of the Gods.

That "fan" was Bryan Ansell and Rick Priestley, actually. Not really a "fan", nor two "fans" I would say. To answer to your thought, well, that isn't the case: all gods are not Chaos gods in disguise ! All gods come from realms of Chaos (more simply knows as warp), tha...

Re: Origins of the Gods.

I thought the whole "warp amalgamation" and "all gods are really the Chaos gods in disguise" things came up in a 2nd edition book ( Realms of Sorcery or Tome of Corruption maybe?). But it's the edition I'm least familiar with, so perhaps it was just a fan idea that was popular in...

Re: The Enemy Within to come...

If I'm recalling correctly, the version of WFRP1 is also the WFB version... the WFB3's up to Warhammer Armies . The version of Warhammer Armies , then, became WFRP2's... But WFB6 (or was it WFB7?) made Bretonnia grimmer and more perilous, firstly by showing how peasants are overburdened by Bretonni...

Yes, really can't say enough good things about Gideon's blog! A must read for anyone interested in the (pre-)history of this game.

Re: The Enemy Within to come...

I think C7 is leaving this open. Everyone can decide how they will play the future of Warhammer World, if their games reach circa 2521 and beyond. You can ignore both SoC and TET. Or play either one... Of course, if they go with SoC (or something similar that they make up themselves), it gives them...

Re: The Enemy Within to come...

There was also a 3rd edition The Enemy Within, which though it made reference to the 1st edition The Enemy Within was otherwise something different set some decades later (or so i recall reading). I suppose this 1st edition remake might borrow some stuff from its 3rd edition namesake, but there's n...

Re: Hägercrybs adventures?

The only one I'm aware of is the fan-made 'The Steward of Grauwerk Manor'. But it's for 3rd edition and requires the GM to put in a lot of build-up and foreshadowing before actually playing, so it might not suit your needs really. Although it could provide some inspiration for doing your own things.

Drachenfels is one of, if not my favourite Warhammer novel, so you'll get no argument from me!

Re: Undead (vampires) in Old World

Just to echo what others have said, as much as I love Drachenfels (which is a lot), I don't think it can be considered entirely canonical, even if playing in the 1st edition version of the setting. Jack Yeovil was basically doing his own thing at a time when the setting was only loosely defined anyw...

Re: New Careers?

Ok, it turns out it's not quite complete. Three careers from a POD supplement are missing (Grave Warden, Necromancer and Master Necromancer). It also doesn't have the skill lists for the careers. It should be fine for doing a basic comparison of career availability though. I have an actual comprehen...

Re: New Careers?

I may take you to literal here, but I don't really see the problem with a equipment-basis for a career as opposed to skill-basis. There are after all only so many Skills in the system. Hell, I wrote up several melee specialistions for my group in regards to the 40k RPG Only War and bases them aroun...

Re: Warhammer novels, and short stories

This might be a long shot, but has anyone read the novels Sword of Justice and Sword of Vengeance by Chris Wraight? I'm thinking about running a sequel to the 3rd Edition TEW and interested in the situation in Averland more than the stories themselves, and I'm really not bothered about diverging fro...

Re: Warhammer novels, and short stories

It's all good, although maybe a bit more like Warhammer meets Discworld than just Warhammer in the stricter sense we have now. As others have said, Drachenfels is probably his best Warhammer novel.
