Re: Hero's Call: Cards, no books

The pdfs for 3e aren't currently (legally) available. Some of the cards from Hero's Call will be more useful than others without the book. A lot of them are epic action and talent cards, which you can use as is, although you'll be missing the explanation of Skill Mastery (this was reprinted in the P...

I don't go in the 4e sections though, so I'm not sure if the devs are still there.

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion

Interestingly, Cubicle 7 recently released a free PDF guide to convert between editions. It included 1st, 2nd and 4th, but not 3rd. This might suggest they think the same, or at the very least feel that their time can be more efficiently spent elsewhere. I've skimmed through a couple of adventures ...

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion

Because 2e was published in book format, I was able to go to a local shop and flip through a book and see if it was any good and then (usually) buy it. With 3e being released in shrink wrapped boxes (presumably to provide a single vessel to hold all the tokens, cardboard punch sheets, and adventure...

Re: Almarr???

From the place names, it sounds like the author may have been using a pre-WFRP1 conception of the Old World, when things were a bit less clearly defined. Middleton in particular is similar to the sorts of place names used in the WFB2 supplement Blood on the Streets : set in 'The Riding' with settlem...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

Did it? The first publication that seem to diverge from Empire in Flames is Games Workshop's Warhammer Armies: The Empire (WFB6, 2000): "It is the year 2520 of the Imperial Calendar, and Karl Franz is the ruling Emperor." Flame's Death's Dark Shadow and Descartes's Pour la gloire d'Ulric ...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

Yes, alternative SoC is probably a good way to look at it. But the point is that Archaon's ET invasion takes a different course to his SoC invasion, and involved different leaders of Chaos forces. Likewise, the activities of some of the Imperial leaders are different (e.g. Volkmar going to Sylvannia...

Re: What and where is Zaiyon?

It's always possible the Zaiyon/Zion resemblance is a coincidence, and we are once again "fooled by randomness" (or at least arbitrariness). Whatever the reason behind including it was, the Zion/Zaiyon resemblance must have been intentional. The verse on the DotR handout is modified from ...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

My preferred fix for the personality change of Boris Todbringer from 1E to 2E is simple: in the "canonical" timeline, Wasmeier's plot was successful and the Graf was actually replaced by an imposter. Thus they seem like very different people for the simple reason that they are different p...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

This is the crux of it for me - we can draw on the locations and NPCs that the End Times, Storm of Chaos, Dark Shadows, Nemesis Crown, Storm of Magic, Lustria Campaign etc. gave us. But I don't see the point in ending the world for players and GMs. But I think an optional setting sourcebook for cam...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

The End Times start approximately 2519 and last approximately 10 years. If we take into account that TEW starts 2512, then we have 7 years till the End Times. There is too much material that you can fit in such a big timeline. Even inside the End Times you can find great adventure. That being said,...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

I thought it did. It wasn't translated in France (or, more exactly, the French translation which was done never get GW's imprimatur [nor even GW's refusal]). Thank you for your correction. I thought that this outset of a Chaos invasion was the outset of the Storm of Chaos... Isn't Storm of Chaos a ...

Re: Enemy Within Updates (plus other stuff)

One quote possibly interesting to some people: "The Storm of Chaos campaign focused on Middenheim and the Cult of Ulric. Boris Todbringer had been represented by this time as a somewhat more heroic and vigorous man who had lost his eye to the Beastlord Khazrak One-Eye. Tying this to the Red Cr...

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion

I thought the issue with 3e was all about the rule mechanics and 'component creep', rather than the scenarios. The adventures I've read are just as good as other editions and they had some great writers - Dave Allen, Graeme Davis and Clive Oldfield from this parish, amongst others. You're almost ce...

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion

Maybe given the general response to 3e among large parts of the community they just don't see it as a particularly worthwhile revenue stream, so not a priority.

Unfortunately it looks like they were never published. But Andy Jones has done a lot of Warhammer related stuff down the years, so who knows, maybe they'll appear one day.

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion

C7 do own the rights to 3e material, and apparently there is interest from the design team in making it all available in pdf format (i.e. as previously published by FFG, not updated to 4e). But, unsurprisingly, they don't have the time or people-power to do that at the moment on top of what they're ...
