Re: Best object quests
Isn't 3e's Witch's Song a broken object quest too? No, you might be thinking of The Gathering Storm, which is a fairly classic broken object quest. It might not be that exciting/interesting for an experienced group, but it's a very good intro to the Warhammer world in that it has a variety of enemi...

Re: Great Blog - Warhammer 3ed Opposed Checks
Sounds similar to my experiences. A stat of 5 can skew things a bit, but you pretty much have to start with another stat of 2 to get it, so I suppose it balances out that way.
Fortunately I haven't yet had a playing willing to commit the advances needed to get to a stat of 6!

Re: Talents - What I learned from novels, comics, and movies
Excellent stuff, thanks for sharing! I don't have anything to add, but I completely agree with you about limiting talents. Your way of justifying it really fits with the logic behind the narrative dice system (imo). I'll be getting my players to read this guidance in future. Looking forward to heari...

Re: Great Blog - Warhammer 3ed Opposed Checks
Yeah, in my experience those double swords can be brutal. My players almost never pass Daunting checks unless they throw all their resources into it. But there might be something in making opposed tests more difficult for characters with high stats.

Re: How Do You Play It - Perplexed and Overwhelmed
Fake Out is an odd action because it doesn't really explain how the basic success level is supposed to work mechanically - I guess it's meant to just be a roleplaying thing left to the GM's discretion. I think you did the right thing reducing the difficulty by one. Adding an expertise die would be a...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases
Lord of Ubersreik in Rough Nights and Hard Days was adapted from 3rd edition (it was originally part of the Edge of Night adventure). But they mainly seem to be trying to cash in on 1st edition nostalgia. Which is probably fair. Are there any adventures/campaigns from 2nd or 3rd that are as fondly ...

Re: 'Crimson Rain' question
It's a great scenario (although I haven't run it yet myself), but I'm generally not a fan of anything that takes away from player-agency. So it's something I'd look at moderating too.

Re: Great Blog - Warhammer 3ed Opposed Checks
Yeah, the purple dice can be very harsh, so I'm wary of imposing too many on my players. Interested in hearing your experiences if/when you get a chance to try this system. Statistical calculation is fine, but doesn't necessarily take into account the variety of possible results from the WFRP3 dice ...

Re: Great Blog - Warhammer 3ed Opposed Checks
Thanks for the link to the blog - it had completely passed me by.
I can't say I've had a problem with opposed checks (I think only the wizard in my group has a 5 stat, and that's Int), but I'm intrigued by this alternative system.

Re: Coming back to 3ed. What I've missed....
Great to hear you're coming back to the best edition of the game! I think you've picked out three of the best things about the system there. Sounds like you've got a group of players who really make the most of it too.

Re: Cathay sourcebook?
Nothing wrong with being "woke" and wanting your modern RPG product to fit modern sensibilities (especially if they are your own sensibilities). I don't want to speak for Fox, but I don't think he's saying the developer of any new Asian-inspired fantasy RPG has to be Asian, just that that'...

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?
Not sure about mechanics, but Grey Wizards seem to be quite fond of using swords as more than just symbolic weapons. And of course, there's always the Bright Magic spell Flaming Sword of Rhuin.

Re: Nurgle cults - what defines them?
I am a bit surprised by the link of Tzeentch to the elite - I would expect him to have followers among the wretched lower classes of society, who crave for change. The elite generally are pretty content where they are and would favour stability. But that aside. Well, it was both in regards to from ...

Thanks for the clarifications regarding the Dreadfleet djinn/spirits/elementals. I do own the book, but it's been a while since I read it.

Re: Fan made?
Elementals (in the traditional sense of fire, water, air, earth) are part of Arabyan magic, at least as per the Arabyan character in Dreadfleet who can summon them. I don't think there's ever been an official source on Araby and how their magic works though.

Re: Dice Mapping
Nothing official that I'm aware of, but Gitzman's dice stickers accurately recreate the dice faces, so you could use those to work it out: http://www.gitzmansgallery.com/docs/WFRP-Sticker-Template.pdf Failing that, there are a few online dice rollers/apps. Not sure if you'd be able to integrate them...
