Re: How double does the double need to be?

I have my first edition copy of Mistaken Identity with me now. It's in the Hogshead edition of Shadows Over Bogenhafen. To quote from p. 49: "Turning the corpse over the adventurers are in for a shock, because [Kastor Lieberung] looks exactly like one of them!" (The emphasis in italics is ...

Re: How double does the double need to be?

I think you made an assumption and ran with it myself. I certainly did at some point in my recollection of Mistaken Identity. I'm not alone in making that assumption. I've seen it come up a few times recently and i've pointed out that to others that Kastor and the PC might not need to be exact doub...

How double does the double need to be?

SPOILERS for The Enemy Within campaign. Forgive me if this has come up before, but i can't recall a discussion regarding this particular issue, for all the discussion on the wider topic. A plot device in The Enemy Within campaign's Mistaken Identity is that one of the PCs is a double for Kastor Lieb...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

I would agree with that, too. I wouldn't expect any writer from a particular demographic to become spokesperson for that demographic - I just want them to have the chance to write things for the setting that they'd like to see. At the end of that day, that's exactly what I did when I was writing fo...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

I wonder what the demographic of people posting here is. Probably not particularly diverse. I have few freckles here and there. One thing that would help, I think, would be actively asking some women, some non-white people and some trans folk to write for the game. That's perhaps the best way to se...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

Is fourth edition WFRP's official canon setting eighth edition WFB? I think 4e grabs a little bit from everywhere but avoids contradicting the official 8e setting. That's not the same as eighth edition WFB being fourth (or first, or second, or third) edition WFRP canon though, is it? I'm not even s...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

I thought we were talking about WFRP (and any edition)? Why feel the need to play according to WFB 8 canon in the rpg? If it's just a question of playing with your own group of grognards, then obviously you can use whatever setting metaphysics float your boat. I'm talking specifically about using t...

Re: WFRP Social Justice & Representation

Mutants can still be victims of oppression, sure, but they can no longer function as metaphors for RW oppressed groups because mutations are now considered evil. It would be akin to sympathizing with someone because they woke up one morning with a swastika on their forehead. To be clear, are you me...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis

Not to contest (or support) the wider claims about the system here, but i don't know that i would find it to be a bad thing that a party had one good fighter that they relied on in fights, at least not in and of itself. It would, of course, depend to some extent on the rest of the system and the kin...

Alas, despite being a very nice looking map, it's pretty much identical.
That's not unexpected, though it is disappointing.

Re: Solutions to Whiffing

Could you use the fourth edition opposed combat rules? The consensus seems to be that that gets rid of whiffing, or that it reduces it considerably.

Re: 4ed Conversions

Using the 4th edition campaign with the 1st edition stats will work for TEW, SOB, probably DotR, PbtT perhaps, but after that the campaign is taking a different path and even if some of the NPCs are the same in name they might be different in character and ability. That said, between the early TEWC ...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

Slightly related: I am still reluctant to buy Ubersreik adventures vol. 1. I own all PDFs and don't want to throw away my money like a madman. Did C7 offer any discount for the printed book in cases, where someone's already bought all PDFs? Not that i know of, and i was watching to see if they did ...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

The 'rules for mass combat' is intriguing given that Games Workshop is revisiting 'The Old World' in some form or other.

Re: Shadows Over Bogenhafen help, please?

Smooth. I'm curious to know how the thimble finder reacts to finding out about how well everything went without him. All this has me thinking about why Teugen and Gideon don't try to deal with the PCs earlier given how quickly they deal with Richter and Gurnisson (and no doubt others i don't recall)...

Are you aware of Gideon's Companion to the first edition of the campaign? It can be downloaded here: https://onedrive.live.com/?id=C86ACFA4B04325B4%21240&cid=C86ACFA4B04325B4 . There is some advice on pp. 34 and 37, with some handouts. There are also a bunch of links here: https://awesomeliesblo...

Re: Death on the Reik Update

The reordering might just refer to a reorganisation of the text without changing the sequence of events. You could be correct. "I took the adventure apart and re-ordered it so that everything is easier to find and the GM has all the necessary information to hand when it is needed." In whi...

Re: Death on the Reik Update

I think 'The Ritual' is a possibility, given its protagonists and the finale in DotR.
