an acquaintance of mine on the nordic weasel games discord server (https://discord.gg/vFVmE59, all being well), private no-one really, is proposing to organise a wfrp convention in sheffield. the current suggested date is saturday 26th october.
here's the inaugural post from the harrowing-in-the-north channel:
This is the channel in which we shall organise a Warhammer Fantasy Role Play day here in glorious Sheffield.
Sheffield has been chosen because I live here, I want you all to visit, I can probably find us somewhere cheap... and because if I'm organising this I want it near my house .
Proposed month is October because this is far enough away for folk to get organised, and the word to get out.
@Triffid (28mm (+4/-3)), @Hambut West -Joke Reanimator, @twisted moon this is partly also your fault so as with Ferret Con your encouragement, and attendance, would be very much welcome.
if you're interested, either visit the discord or pm me your e-mail address to pass to provate no-one really so he can keep you informed of developments.
hope to see you there.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm tempted if I can find a way to make it coincide with a visit to see the family...twisted moon wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 10:39 am an acquaintance of mine on the nordic weasel games discord server (https://discord.gg/vFVmE59, all being well), private no-one really, is proposing to organise a wfrp convention in sheffield. the current suggested date is saturday 26th october.

turns out it was an actual wfrp convention in sheffield.
a friend and I made the 2 hour 10 minute journey from the north east, and a couple of my old gaming buddies traveled from york, whilst john foody made a weekend of it after getting the train from north london. there were sixteen of us all told, with four games each with three players.
in the morning I played a witch-hunter (and dog) in private no-one really's darker malleus scenario. very atmospheric despite a certain levity amongst the players.
in the afternoon i reprised 'the heart of the matter', which I wrote for, and ran at, timcon ix. that must have been in 2012. it didn't run quite as well with three players as the six it was designed for, but it was more likely bad dice rolling that caused all the contenders to fail to become the new beastman champion, leading to their warband being disbanded.

Many thanks to Tom for organising the first Hallowing in the North Con in Sheffield. It was a great Con for WFRP and other Dark Fantasy games.
I reran my Lustria con scenario, The Three Trials of Neu Bergsburg, and this went well. The players were successful in saving the town, despite two random events that nearly ruined it for them, although only one character survived to the end. There was a lot more focus on cheese compared to when I ran the scenario at TobCon…
I took part in Tom’s game of Darker Malleus in the afternoon. This indie game has a nice rule mechanic and works well for witch-hunter types of game. I am tempted to use this for my next Tobcon scenario.
The only downside of the day was not being able to play in the other 2 games that were run on the day – both looked great.
I look forward to Harrowing 2.
