Spear and Shield

I can see the spear is 2-handed. Is it then impossible to have a classic spear and shield setup?
A short spear is considered a Hand Weapon so it can be combined with a shield.
Page 296, Hand Weapons: „ Hand Weapon’ is used to describe any of a number of basic weapons that, though different, are assumed to be effectively
the same in-game, including swords, axes, hammers, maces, short spears, and more.”
